Is adding a few ice cubes to your rosé acceptable or a breach of wine etiquette?
Yes, it is generally acceptable to add ice cubes to rosé, especially in extremely hot conditions. However, there are a few things to keep in mind:
Flavour Dilution:
Adding ice cubes can dilute the wine’s flavour as the ice melts.
Type of Rosé:
Delicate and fine rosés might not be ideal for adding ice. Instead, choose a rosé with strong fruity aromas and perhaps a bit more sweetness to better withstand the dilution.
Quantity of Ice:
Limit the number of ice cubes to one or two to minimise flavour loss.
The short answer? While traditional wine etiquette might frown upon adding ice, it’s perfectly fine in hot weather to keep your drink refreshing and help with hydration! Enjoy!
