📣 NEW TASTING ANNOUNCEMENT 📣 From Cork to cask, we invite you to discover a taste of the Atlantic this November. Join us for an evening exploring the whiskies of @clonakiltydistillery, hosted by Global Brand Ambassador Paddy Gilley.
Based on Ireland’s rugged Atlantic coast in County Cork, Clonakilty does things a little differently. Barley is grown on the family farm and locally in Cork, fermentation is extended to develop more flavour, and the spirit is triple distilled before being matured in their warehouse overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, where the coastal conditions play their part in the finished whiskey.
Across the evening, Paddy will guide us through six Clonakilty whiskies, giving us the story behind the distillery, its distinctive approach to whiskey-making and, of course, what to look for in the glass.
Each whiskey will be complemented by a carefully paired tasting board, chosen to bring out the flavours along the way.

You lot really do love a tasting! 🍷And before we tell you what we`ve got coming up, we need to say a huge thank you to everyone who has booked a tasting recently. The support has been incredible, with several events selling out remarkably quickly; some almost as soon as tickets have been released!

The @nyetimber Tasting is proving particularly popular, so much so that a second session at an earlier time of 5:30pm has now been added. It’s the final weekend of this year`s Oktoberfest! 🇩🇪🍻 If you’ve been joining us in working your way through this year’s Oktoberfest beers, we`d love to know, which one has been your favourite?
And if you haven’t tried them yet, there’s still time. They’re certainly not all the same, so here’s our very quick guide to finding the one for you:
🍺 Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier: if you like your beer smooth, crisp and very easy drinking, with plenty of bready malt character, start here.
🍺 Spaten aus München Oktoberfest Bier: fan of classic, balanced lagers with those lovely bread and biscuit flavours? If so, this should be right up your Straße!
🍺 Hacker-Pschorr Oktoberfest Bier: like something a little richer? This has a slightly honeyed malt character and just enough bitterness to balance it out. Even better with a Bratwurst! 🌭
🍺 Flötzinger Wies’n Märzen: if maltier beers are more your thing, this one is smooth and rounded with a softer finish and gentle hops. Wunderbar!
🍺 Löwenbräu München Oktoberfest Bier: prefer a bit more character? This beer is slightly more robust and spicy, with aromatic hops alongside the malt.

Shenfield Wine Co. cigar of the week: the Trinidad Topes. 🔥
If you know your Cuban cigars, the Trinidad Topes probably needs little introduction. You`ll know that it was originally released in 2016 as a Habanos Edición Limitada, and that the Topes made quite an impression. This was partly because its substantial 56 ring gauge was the largest Trinidad had produced at the time.
But if you’ve never tried one, here’s what you can expect… 👇
A rich, rounded smoke with notes of cedar, coffee and toasted nuts, alongside a gentle sweetness and touches of spice as it develops. Creamy and well-balanced, with plenty of depth without becoming overpowering.
If you`re wondering what to enjoy in the glass alongside the cigar, we’d recommend something with enough richness to stand up to it. That`s why we`re pairing it with 20YO Santiago de Cuba Cuban Rum at our next Sip and Smoke, as it`s a particularly good match, bringing mature notes of dried fruit, caramel, vanilla and oak that work beautifully alongside the Topes. 🥃
The Trinidad Topes is the cigar being presented at our next Sip & Smoke on 2nd October, with Tom Lewis of Hunters & Frankau talking us through it. We`ll be pairing it with the aforementioned 20YO Santiago de Cuba Cuban Rum, and this really is a pairing to take your time over and enjoy.
