Over the past two decades, the Crouch Valley has transformed from simple farmland into England’s most respected wine region. Its rolling slopes, clay-rich soils, and warm-dry microclimate are ideal for premium grapes, producing crisp whites, complex Chardonnay, and elegant Pinot Noir that have earned the region growing acclaim at home and abroad.
At the heart of this story is Missing Gate Vineyard. Family-owned and carefully tended, the estate spans 400 acres, 100 of which are planted with vines cultivated to exacting standards. Beneath the modern vineyard, the land carries centuries of history, Roman coins and trading weights discovered above Fenn Creek hint at its rich heritage.
From vine to bottle, every step is overseen by the family, ensuring wines that reflect both the valley’s unique terroir and their dedication to quality. Today, Missing Gate has achieved a milestone once thought impossible for English winemaking: First they delivered world-class Pinot Noir’s and now Sauvignon Blanc! Wines that showcase the Crouch Valley at its very best.
