They said it couldn’t be done. They said we’d never sell enough to make it work - that it was too ambitious, too grand. But at Shenfield Wine Co, we believe in quality over compromise and in those who can truly appreciate the extraordinary. And with last week’s Gaja Tasting, we proved that passion and prestige will always outshine doubt.
To host a Gaja Tasting is a true privilege; an experience typically reserved for Michelin-starred settings. Bringing the grandeur of Gaja to @ttrshenfield was both an honour and a joy.
Guests were treated to a journey through the breadth and brilliance of Gaja’s range, from the approachable charm of their Tuscan wines to the profound complexity of their Piedmont masterpieces. Thank you to Gaja Family Ambassador Francesca Cioce and James Wilson of @hatchmansfield for making this tasting happen and guiding us through the beautiful wines on the night.
And of course, we have to say a huge thank you to everyone that joined us on the night: you helped make our Gaja tasting not just memorable, but truly unforgettable, and judging by the enthusiasm (and the number of bottles ordered!), it’s safe to say our guests left with more than memories!

What we`re drinking this week: Renato Ratti - Barolo DOCG Marcenasco. 🍷
We’re thrilled to introduce one of Piedmont’s true icons this week: the Marcenasco Barolo from the historic Ratti estate in La Morra. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo in the renowned Marcenasco vineyard site, this is a wine that reflects both tradition and terroir in remarkable style.
This beautiful wine shows a deep ruby colour and aromas of ripe red berries, cherries, and raspberries, with hints of violets and gentle herbal notes. On the palate, you’ll find layers of cherry, raspberry, a touch of spice and liquorice and a subtle earthy depth that gives it real character.
It’s an elegant yet powerful wine, and is therefore perfect with grilled or roasted red meats, rich mushroom-based dishes and mature Italian or Alpine cheeses. In short, dishes with a little weight, a little depth, that match the wine’s character.

Cigars are delicate products that demand precise humidity and temperature controls. Specialists must ensure cigars are kept in properly maintained humidors, protecting them from damage and preserving their flavour and aroma.
Here at Shenfield Wine Co. and the @essexcigarcompany, we have a beautiful, custom-built humidor, which is home to over 100 different types of cigars, with a split of approximately 50/50 between Cuban and New World Cigars. This allows us to keep our cigars at their optimum humidity and temperature so that you can rest assured that any cigar you purchase from us will be enjoyed as it should be.
